1、 Basic information

Location: Muqiaowan Community, Zhongyuan Village, Wenfeng Street, Kaizhou District, Chongqing.

Opening Hours: Open all day all year round.

Scenic Spot Level: National AAAA Tourist Attraction, National Water Conservancy Scenic Spot.

Floor area: the water area is 15 square kilometers, the east-west span is 12.51 kilometers, and the north-south span is 5.86 kilometers.

Water storage: 80 million cubic meters.

2、 Formation background

Hanfeng Lake is an artificial lake formed by the construction of the Three Gorges Project on the Yangtze River, and is the largest inland lake in the Three Gorges reservoir area. Influenced by the operation of the Three Gorges Project, the water level in the Three Gorges reservoir area operates between 145 and 175 meters all the year round, forming a fluctuation zone with a fluctuation level difference of up to 30 meters, which is contrary to the seasonal fluctuation of natural rivers. When the Three Gorges Reservoir is in low water level operation, the fluctuating zone around Kaizhou New Town is completely exposed, forming a fluctuating zone with an area of 45 square kilometers.

In December 2015, Hanfeng Lake was selected as one of the 30 best new tourist attractions in the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.

In January 2022, Hanfeng Lake Scenic Area won the title of "Chongqing Civilized Unit".

On October 27, 2023, Hanfeng Lake was selected into the second batch of 38 national excellent cases of beautiful rivers and lakes released by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.

In 2024, Hanfeng Lake was rated as a city level happy lake.
